Medical Coverage
What to Know
DuPont offers three medical plan options through Aetna to all regular, full-service employees working 20 hours or more per week. The most important thing to know about our medical plans is that they are here to protect your and your family’s health and well-being.
Medical Plans Overview
Each DuPont Medical Plan is designed differently, so there’s a fit for everyone. The Medical Plans differ for things like how much you pay in premiums from your paycheck and how much you pay in out-of-pocket expenses when you get care. While the plans have differences, they have some similarities, too. For example, they all cover preventive care at 100% and include prescription drug benefits. Continue reading for more details of each option.
The Core Option
The Core option is a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) that has in-network and out-of-network coverage and comes with a Health Savings Account (HSA). Together, you and DuPont contribute to the HSA to help pay, and save for, healthcare expenses, now or in the future.
The Core option has a lower deductible than our other high-deductible health plan, the Premium Saver option, but higher paycheck premiums. This means you’ll pay more in paycheck premiums for the Core option, but less in out-of-pocket expenses when you receive care.
The Premium Saver Option
The Premium Saver option is a high-deductible health plan (HDHP). Like the Core option, it comes with a Health Savings Account (HSA), which includes a Company-provided HSA contribution (in addition to your own contributions), allowing you to save for current and future healthcare expenses.
The Premium Saver option has the lowest premiums of the three DuPont Medical Plans; however, it has a higher deductible. This means you’ll pay less in paycheck premiums for the Premium Saver option, but more in out-of-pocket expenses before meeting the plan’s deductible.
The Traditional Copay PPO Option
The Traditional Copay PPO option is a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan. Through this plan, you have access to a network of providers that you can use to receive medical care. Each of these providers has agreed to provide care to plan members at a fixed rate for certain services, known as a copay.
Unlike the Core option and the Premium Saver option, the Traditional Copay PPO option does not come with a Health Savings Account (HSA). The Traditional Copay PPO option has the lowest deductibles of our medical plan options, and the same premiums as the Core option.

This chart compares the in-network features of the three medical plan options. For more details, including what you’ll pay for out-of-network services, see the summary plan description on DuPont Connection.

Cost for Coverage
Paycheck premiums vary by plan. As part of our commitment to help you stay healthy, DuPont offers two ways for you to save on your medical plan premiums: through the Healthy Incentive Credit and by attesting to your current tobacco use.
When you participate in the Healthy Living Program with Virgin Pulse and meet the requirements to receive the Healthy Incentive Credit, you reduce your medical premiums for the following plan year. Similarly, if you support DuPont’s global tobacco-free policy by attesting to your tobacco use, you’ll avoid a $50 monthly surcharge to your medical premiums.
